The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) vide its notice dated July 14, 2025, has officially extended the filing deadline for both quarterly and annual returns for the Financial Year 2024–25 under the Waste Tyre Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework.
As per the latest directive, all entities registered on the Waste Tyre EPR Portal and those covered under the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Amendment Rules, 2022, now have until August 15, 2025 to complete their regulatory filings.
Revised Compliance Timeline
Previously extended until June 30, 2025, the new deadline offers an additional grace period for registered entities to meet their reporting obligations without facing non-compliance penalties. The returns must be submitted through the official CPCB Waste Tyre EPR Portal.
Legal Implications for Non-Compliance
Entities that fail to file their quarterly and annual returns by August 15, 2025, may face enforcement actions under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. Businesses are strongly advised to avoid delays and ensure timely submission to remain in good standing with environmental authorities.
EPR Certificate Functionality Continues Uninterrupted
The CPCB has confirmed that during this extended filing period, the generation and transfer of EPR Certificates will continue to function as usual on the EPR Portal. This ensures that businesses can meet their recycling obligations and manage certificate transactions without disruption.
Action Points for Registered Entities:
- Log in to the Waste Tyre EPR Portal and complete all pending return submissions.
- Ensure data accuracy and compliance with EPR norms.
- Initiate filings well before the August 15, 2025 deadline to avoid technical issues or last-minute errors.
