MoEF&CC Extends Used Oil EPR Return Filing Deadline to 30th September 2025

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), vide its notice dated 9th July 2025, has extended the deadline for filing returns under the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework for Used Oil, notified through the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Second Amendment Rules, 2023, for the Financial Year 2024–25.

This extension has been granted in response to a letter dated 4th July 2025 from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), which conveyed that several stakeholders under the Used Oil EPR framework had requested additional time for return filing beyond the earlier deadline of 30th June 2025.

Considering the request, and in accordance with sub-rule (5) of Rule 30 of the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Amendment Rules, 2024, the Ministry has decided to extend the return filing timeline by three months, up to 30th September 2025.

This extension applies to all registered entities under the EPR for Used Oil compliance mechanism for the FY 2024–25.

This notice has been issued with the approval of the Competent Authority.
